Registration Opens for New Accounting Courses

Registration is open for two new accounting courses: BSFM 200 - Building Financial Transaction Elements and Rules and BSFM 250 - Processing Transactions Parking Documents.

BSFM 200 –Building Financial Transaction Elements and Rules identifies and defines transaction elements, including general ledger account categories, fund attributes, cost centers, RIO and SIOs. Participants will examine how transaction elements are stored in the different SAP modules and learn transaction rules for fund accounting.

BSFM 250 -- Processing Transactions Parking Documents is designed to give participants the opportunity to apply the transaction rules covered in “BSFM 200.” The course covers transaction elements used to create documents through FV50 and FMBB, how to create and park intramural invoice vouchers, journal vouchers, FMBBs, FMBB/JV combos, and how to receive cash with a journal voucher. Participants will also learn how to view posted documents and view transaction results with reports.

All participants must have completed the prerequisites BMD - Master Data and  BSFM 100 – Introduction to Fund Management prior to attending both “BSFM 200” and “BSFM 250.”


Three learning options are offered to accommodate the high demand for these courses.

BSFM 200 & BSFM 250 (Traditional instructor-led format)
These courses are intended for employees with less SAP experience and should be attended together. Participants gain hands on experiences in SAP, search for master data elements, and enter documents using FV50. 

The following sessions are scheduled:

Feb. 26, 1:30-5 p.m.
Feb. 27, 8:30-12 p.m.

Mar. 28, 8:30-12 p.m.
Mar. 29, 8:30-12 p.m.

Apr. 30, 1:30-5 p.m.
May 1, 8:30-12 p.m.

May 29, 8:30-12 p.m.
May 30, 1:30-5 p.m.

BSFM 200 – Refresher (Traditional instructor-led format)
This option is intended for users with more SAP experience. This traditional instructor-led course provides hands on experience searching for master data element in SAP, but does not include entering documents into the system using FV50.

Refresher sessions are scheduled on the follwing dates:

Mar. 7, 1:30-5 p.m.
Apr. 3, 1:30-5 p.m.
May 14, 8:30-12 p.m.
Jun. 4, 8:30-12 p.m.

BSFM 200X Building Financial Transaction Elements and Rules Self Study & BSFM 270 – Q&A Session for Self Study Participants
The self study option is intended for DFAs and business managers who have extensive experience in SAP.
Participants will be provided with the materials from BSFM 200 & BSFM 250 to review independently.  A follow up Q&A session, BSFM 270, will be held to answer specific questions that participants have about the material.   

Q&A sessions are scheduled on the following dates:

Mar. 19, 9-10:30 a.m.
Apr. 18, 3:30-5 p.m.


To ensure a seat in “BSFM 200,” participants can enroll by following these steps:
   1. Click BSFM 200 –Building Financial Transaction Elements and Rules to open the Training Registration site.

   3. Click “Checkout.”
   4. Sign in with Purdue career account and password.
   5. Confirm that the registration information that displays is correct and click “Submit.”
   6. Verify that the section that displays is correct and click “Process Registration” to complete the registration.

   2. Click “Add to Cart” button adjacent to the desired section.
   3. Click “Checkout.”

   5. Confirm that the registration information that displays is correct and click “Submit.”
   6. Verify that the section that displays is correct and click “Process Registration” to complete the registration.

To register for the "Self Study" option, participants should follow these steps:
   1. Click and BSFM 200X – Building Financial Transactions Elements and Rules Self Study to open the Training Registration site.
   2. Click “Add to Cart” button adjacent to the desired section.
   3. Click “Checkout.”
   4. Sign in with Purdue career account and password.
   5. Confirm that the registration information that displays is correct and click “Submit.”
   6. Verify that the section that displays is correct and click “Process Registration” to complete the registration.

To ensure a seat in the "Q&A" sessions, participants can enroll by following these steps:
   1. Click and BSFM 270 – Q&A Session for Self Study to open the Training Registration site.
   2. Click “Add to Cart” button adjacent to the desired section.
   3. Click “Checkout.”
   4. Sign in with Purdue career account and password.
   5. Confirm that the registration information that displays is correct and click “Submit.”
   6. Verify that the section that displays is correct and click “Process Registration” to complete the registration.
